Mayors for Peace increased membership with seventeen new cities in the USA. However, the most significant result during 2008 is without doubt the adoption by the US Conference of Mayors of a Resolution in support of the H-N Protocol.  In January 2008, Mayor Donald Plusquellic (Akron, Ohio), Vice President of Mayors for Peace and former President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), spoke to the USCM International Affairs Committee at its annual winter meeting in Washington DC. Mayor Plusquellic updated the Committee on Mayors for Peace and reported on the decisions taken at the first meeting of the 2020 Vision Campaign Association held in Florence, Italy, in November 2007.
