Staff overview
As a truly international organisation, Mayors for Peace has members of staff in all corners of the globe.
The 2020 Vision Campaign has an International Secretariat in Ypres, Belgium, which exists to facilitate and co-ordinate the political campaign. Its role includes organising conferences and meetings, implementing communication strategies, compiling campaign materials, and providing administrative support to our members.
The Campaign Director, Aaron Tovish, is based in Vienna, Austria. He oversees the operations of the International Secretariat and works actively in the international arena to advance the campaign’s political objectives.
The Mayors for Peace Secretariat is located in Hiroshima, Japan, where the organisation was founded. The Hiroshima Secretariat deals with memberships, publishes the monthly newsflash, organises the General Conference every four years, and works closely with the Mayor of Hiroshima, President of Mayors for Peace.
Our 2020 Vision Campaigners work in their own countries to advance the campaign, by engaging with local mayors, building partnerships with local NGOs, and raising awareness of the need for nuclear disarmament.
Our UN Representatives lobby at the United Nations in New York and Geneva to ensure that Mayors for Peace and the voice of local governments around the world are heard at the highest levels.
