Dr. Shahriar Khateri
Dr. Shahriar Khateri is a physician who has been involved in the treatment of victims of the Iran-Iraq war since 1996. He has worked in the field of health effects of chemical warfare agents for more than ten years. He is also active in the field of peace and disarmament. Dr. Khateri is the co-founder of the Tehran based NGO, Society for Chemical Weapons Victims Support (SCWVS) and the Tehran Peace Museum. He is an international councillor of IPPNW (International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War) and co-president of its Iranian affiliate IPSR (Iranian Physicians for Social Responsibility).
Since 2005 Dr. Khateri has worked hard to introduce Mayors for Peace and the 2020 Vision Campaign to Iranian mayors and has seen the number of Iranian member cities grow every year thanks in large part to his efforts. He has organised several exchange programmes between Iranian mayors and other member cities as well as awareness programs (including exhibitions and seminars).
