Buenos Aires, September 21st 2011 - Mayors for Peace signed an agreement of cooperation with IC-Argentina at the end of the Latin American Security Conference in the Argentinian capital. IC-Argentina, the operational organizer of many conferences for local governments in the region, is a private consulting firm working with local governments throughout Latin America.
In the agreement signed today Mayors for Peace recognizes the valuable contribution of IC-Argentina during the Week of Latin American Municipalities in Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata in October 2010. Mayors for Peace is very thankful for the support offered by IC-Argentina towards the 66th Hiroshima commemoration on August 6th 2011.
IC-Argentina openly declares its support for the Mayors for Peace 2020 Vision Campaign to eliminate all nuclear weapons by the year 2020; and calls upon all Mayors from Latin America to formally join Mayors for Peace
Ariel Borgiani, CEO of IC-Argentina declared:''IC-Argentina takes the commitment to work together with "Mayors for Peace" to spread the values of the unity, the end of wars and mass destruction. IC-Argentina and Mayors for Peace intend to establish a close, long-lasting relationship and will actively explore avenues of further cooperation., such as the organization of events and advise towards fundraising to establish Mayors for Peace in the region.
The agreement was signed by Ariel Borgiani, IC's Executive Director, and Pol Heanna, the Mayors for Peace International Development Director.
