We asked Mayor Vestby, from the City of Frogn, Norway, to explain how he became involved in Mayors for Peace, and how he participates in the campaign.

Before I joined Mayors for Peace, my city already had some links with Japan.  The municipality of Frogn and the city of Drøbak send a Christmas Tree every year to the city of Osaka.  This initiative is called "Lighting the International Tree of Peace, Love and Friendship". I go there to participate in the lighting ceremony alongside the Norwegian Ambassador, the Mayor of Osaka, and other officials.  It’s a big event.
