New Membership Drive 2008 - 2010 towards Decisive Decade
Since 2004 membership of Mayors for Peace has quadrupled. In 2007 we welcomed well over 400 new member cities. With over 2,020 members at the start of 2008 the 25th anniversary membership-drive in 2007 was very successful. The vision for a world free of nuclear weapons inspires many into action, and we wish to thank all the supporters who made this happen. One new member a day will ban nuclear weapons away!
As we prepare for the Decisive Decade for Nuclear Disarmament the Executive Conference of Mayors for Peace agreed to continue capacity building. We aim to welcome on average one new member city/day for the preparation period 2008 - 2010.
An ambitious goal as we need to materialise the 2020 Vision. Numbers count. Every city will be accounted for when we demand immediate action from the nuclear weapon states towards complete nuclear disarmament.
We need the support of your city! If your city has not registered yet, please do so as soon as possible.
Become part of this organisation which receives growing support and recognition throughout the world. Here more information about membership and the Registration Form
We encourage member cities and supporters to organise drives to recruit new members. From experience in Belgium, Luxembourg and New-Zealand we have learned that especially cross-party or bi-partisan recruitment letters are key to success. Contact us if you want more information about these initiatives.
Please keep the 2020 Vision Campaign Secretariat informed of progress if you plan a drive, and let us know if we can assist.
