Most recent results on Cities Appeal in Support of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Protocol
Although we have stopped collecting signatures, as of March 29th, 2010, there are 1361 signatories to the Cities Appeal from 51 countries (listed below). They range from London, Luxembourg, Rome and Stockholm in Europe, Sapporo (Japan) in the East, to San Francisco (USA) in the West, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Cape Town (South Africa) in the South and to Toronto (Canada) in the North.*Those marked with an asterisk were signatures collected by the Peace Boat and presented to Mayor Akiba in Hiroshima earlier this year. Further details on these signatories are still pending.
Also note that on June 23, 2008, the US Conference of Mayors (USCM), at its 76th annual meeting in Miami, Florida, unanimously adopted a far-reaching resolution supporting the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Protocol, entitled “Support for the Elimination of All Nuclear Weapons by the Year 2020.” See full text below and here on the USCM website.
